2016 Lamborn Cabernet Blend

2016 Lamborn Cabernet Blend

"Intensely rich in color, 2200’ starts with a deep, dark crimson that stains the glass; the almost mysterious hue matched only in magnitude by its complementary aromas and flavors. A concentrated bouquet seems to boast of its abundance of dark and profound fruit. These mountain grapes are not bashful when it comes to yielding vivid layers of full-bodied mountain ambrosia. Showcasing black cherry, raspberry, and blueberry notes, the fruit integrates seamlessly with the caramel, dark chocolate, and clove tones. This stunning red wine blend grown organically at the top of Howell Mountain is ready to “Wow!” you now with minimal decanting, or anytime over the next 15+ years. An absolute joy of a wine." - Heidi Barrett, winemaker

I would highly recommend the 2200'!! Definitely lives up to the Lamborn name and how can you go wrong with a blend from Howell Mountain made by Heidi Barrett. I commend the Lamborn Family for yet another outstanding wine.

From start to finish, this IS a great wine. On the nose it has delicious berries, and spices. On the palate it is complex, I want to say medium bodied with dark cherries, dark chocolate. Sumptuous long 2200’ finish.

Opened a bottle of this March 2019 - decanted and served with meaty pasta dish. Definite wonderful color and texture - layered med body berry on the palate and a better finish. Will let this wine cellar or a year or two+ and try again - think it will be better w age ...

Will be even better with age. Thoroughly enjoyed the first tasting, looking forward to next year or two.

I buy any wine made by Heidi Barrett and I love the Howell Mountain wines, this one is no exception. The nose is excellent and gives us a great prelude of the great wine to come. The taste is excellent and wine has a smooth mouth feel and a nice long finish. I plan to leave some in the cellar and know it will age gracefully.

This stuff is great - agree wholeheartedly with all of the reviews above! I am a big fan of the Lamborn cabs and was a slight bit skeptical on the red blend release but shouldn't have ever doubted Heidi Barrett. Fantastic color and nose on the open and was good from beginning to end. IMO every bit as good as the Cabs at a slightly lower price point. Well done

This wine was really good when we first opened it, but after sitting for a few hours, it was fantastic.

This is the one we had been waiting for! We are huge Zin lovers but also really enjoy a great Cab. What could be better than a blend of the two? So delicious! Big fruit yet bold and dense. Really loved the flavor mix! Drank one bottle now and will age the rest for a few years - or at least will try to!

Great blend, wasn't really sure about this but now that I have it, I'm glad I do! Decanted for an hour, and opened up super nice, great nose, bold flavor.

This wine is amazing. It has layers of fruit and soft tannins. Each time I have opened a bottle, I am amazed at how good it is! I am ordering it for a second time today.

I grabbed a pre-release bottle (or case!) last summer when we were last up at Howell Mountain. I promised Mike that I would hold it for a while. I cheated and was glad I did! This is a wonderful wine!

I would highly recommend the 2200'!! I just opened a bottle and greatly enjoyed it. The best part is it will get even better with age.

I think this is the most exciting thing to happen at Lamborn since they first began producing cab. My favorite Zin maker has found a way to combine it with their cab...rare...and fantastic.

Just opened our first bottle of 2200' and it is terrific. Wonderful dark color, with a nose of berries and spice. On the palate, it is full bodied with a nice long finish. The blend of Cab and Zin is nicely balanced and delicious. We still have a couple bottles that we'll let age a little and can't wait for the next vintage. Another great wine from Lamborn and Heidi Barrett.
